Responsibilities

As a Town Council we offer a range of services within Banbury. Other Councils provide services in Banbury. These are Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council. Although each Council is an independent body providing separate services we work together to ensure that all the services provide what the people of Banbury want.

The Town Council is the first tier of local government and is therefore closest to the people.  As well as providing a voice for Banbury it is intent on providing high quality and responsive public services, economically, and efficiently. Although the Town Council itself only has limited powers, it can work with the other Councils, and public agencies to solve problems and provide facilities which might not otherwise be addressed.

The main services provided by the Town Council are as follows:-

Allotments
Bus Shelters
By-Laws
Cemeteries
Civic events promoted by the Town Mayor
Crime Prevention Initiatives
Dog Litter Bins
Events: Banbury in Bloom, Canal Day, Christmas Lights Switch-On   Grants to Voluntary Organisations
