Town Council Organisation
The Town Council has 22 elected Members. Members are elected for a term of four years and the next election will take place in May 2016. The Members do not receive any payment for being elected Members and give their time voluntarily to the benefit of residents.
The Council elects one of its Members each May to be the Town Mayor. Another Member is elected as Deputy Town Mayor.
The Town Mayor presides over all Town Council Meetings.
The Town Council has three Committees, which deal with the various services.
