Sunday 8th July 2018
The hottest spot in town on Sunday was People’s Park where hundreds of families came together for fun in the sun.
People of all ages joined Banbury mayor Shaida Hussain for Town Mayor’s Sunday – a day of enjoyment and excitement with stalls, funfair, food and drink – and lots more.
The heat – around 30 degrees C – caused the cancellation of Bark in the Park, the popular dog show which was to have been part of the day’s entertainment. It was decided that the welfare of pets was the priority.
But the high temperatures didn’t melt the spirits of the men, women and children who toured the stalls and watched the arena activities.
Collie dog Sam raised a few smiles by herding ducks instead of sheep and the arena programme also included a marching band, dancing and martial arts.
Music and commentary was provided by Puritan’s Radio.
Cllr Hussain said: “I was thrilled to see so many people enjoying the day out. It must have been the warmest Mayor’s Sunday ever, but grandparents, parents and children came out together for a real family occasion.”
