Mark 85 Years Since the Battle of Britain
When: Sunday 14th September, 11:00 - 14:00
Where: Banbury Market Place / St Mary's Church
Join us as we once again celebrate the British victory over German invaders during the Battle of Britain, one of the most important campaigns of World War II.
2025 marks 85 years since the Battle of Britain, and Banbury Town Council intends to celebrate this important milestone with its biggest event dedicated to the battle yet.
See a military parade journey through the centre of town to St Mary's Church, where a memorial service will be held. Crowds can also look forward to an RAF flypast on the day.
What to Expect:
- Military parade - The event will begin in Market Place, where a military parade will travel through the centre of town towards St Mary's Church. The parade will feature dozens of participants from a variety of regiments and organisations.
- Memorial service - St Mary's Church will host a memorial service in honour of those who fought in the Battle of Britain. This service will feature hymns, readings, and poems paying respect to 'The Few'.
- RAF flypast - Undoubtedly one of the highlights of the event, shortly after the service attendees will be able to enjoy a flypast from the RAF in a selection of aircraft. Specific vehicles have yet to be confirmed, but it is not unusual to see the historic Battle of Britain Memorial Flight - made up of real British warplanes built to fight in WWII.
