The Planning Committee is responsible for:

Town and County Planning and Development within the parish – examining and making recommendations to the Planning Authority (Cherwell District Council - CDC) on planning applications (all Banbury applications are available for inspection at the Town Hall) responding to CDC, Oxfordshire County Council and South East England Partnership Board regarding local, county, regional and national planning policy.
The Local Development Framework Working Group has been established to respond to CDC’s emerging Local Development Plan.
Highways & Transport Issues – responding to Oxfordshire County Council as the Highways and Public Transport Authority on all matters relating to Highways, footpaths, cycleways, bus services etc in the Town. 
Provision of Bus Shelters – largely through Clear Channel, who’s advertising shelters are provided free of charge.
The Built Heritage Working Party was set up to work with the Planning Authority and other interested bodies (including the Civic Society and Chamber of Commerce) on:
  • extending the Conservation Area for Banbury 
  • the Grimsbury Conservation Area
  • in preparing a Local list of buildings of Architectural and historic Interest and
  • to prepare a Design Statement for the Town
Banbury Traffic Advisory Committee acts as a multi-organisation forum, including Oxfordshire County Council to discuss and respond to all traffic related matters in the Town such as:
  • Traffic management schemes
  • Traffic Regulation Orders (waiting restrictions)
  • Signalling, Signage and Road markings
  • On and off Street Parking
