Freddie’s Future
At just six years old, Freddie, from Banbury, was diagnosed with metastatic (in more than one place) Ewing Sarcoma, which is a rare form of childhood bone cancer.
After enduring 10 months of rigorous chemotherapy and radiotherapy, he thankfully shows no signs of disease on his numerous progress scans and checks.
However some drugs used are over 40 years old, lacking advancement due to insufficient funding and research. Most bone cancer patients are children, and the prognosis for this awful disease is shocking. 50-80% of people with metastatic disease are likely to relapse, and there is no second line treatment if they do. Moreover, bone cancer receives minimal funding from major cancer charities and the government.
This is why Freddie’s Future was set up under the Bone Cancer Research Trust - to better treatments for patients like Freddie.
Nicole Croft Freddie’s Mum “We are so grateful to Team Cherwell Triathlon Club for allowing us this fantastic opportunity. We are such a small charity with such a big fight, and opportunities like this mean the world to us”
