Banbury Show 2024

Published: 17 June 2024

Banbury Town Council was pleased with the excellent turnout at Banbury Show this year despite some unsteady weather conditions, with residents of all ages enjoying performances, entertainment, and food in the beautiful surroundings of Spiceball Park last Saturday. With plenty to see and do, the event proved a fantastic day out, and a chance for businesses and talent – both local to the Banbury area and from beyond Oxfordshire – to find new customers, fans, and followers.

From the very start, featuring an opening parade from the RAF Air Cadets, guests were eager to get inside and take a look at the different displays, musical acts and talented professionals present at the Show. There was something for every age and interest, with animal lovers treated to performances from the Craigscourt Gundogs and a number of charity stalls. Meanwhile, history buffs could admire a selection of vintage farm vehicles, including a wonderfully preserved traction engine, with a miniature model taking guests for rides around the park.

Thrill seekers could enjoy the RPM Bike Displays and numerous exciting fairground rides. Other terrific displays included a demonstration  from the Oxfordshire Fire Service, who took the audience through the process required to safely remove someone from a damaged vehicle.

Food fans could choose from a wide variety of stalls offering meals, snacks, and drinks, with a great mix of local favourites and visitors from  further afield providing treats for guests to try. Whether attendees were looking for a warm meal or sweet treat, there was something to suit  every taste.

Of course, another highlight of the show was the live music, sourced by Banbury Music Mix Radio. With two performances from the North Oxfordshire Academy and sets by Leighton Tongue and Star Performers, the soundtrack to the day was a unique mix of genres and styles. Radio Horton were also at the show, providing commentary and hosting duties for the arena performances.

After a terrific closing set by J.E.E.P., Banbury Show came to an end at around 17:00. As traders started to close up, there was still a considerable guest presence, a reflection of just how much there was to see and do on the day.

Also present were numerous charities and societies representing all sorts of causes including animal welfare, disability awareness and support, and historical preservation. Local groups such as Banbury Historical Society, Dogs for Good, and Banbury Parkinson’s Group were just some of the names at the show, with passionate members on hand to answer questions and encourage membership to these fantastic organisations.

The efforts of every single individual who contributed to the show was a factor in its success, and Banbury Town Council would once again like to thank every vendor, artist, and member of staff who contributed to the show’s success.
